Fiji Gas Invests in State of the Art Tanker

Fiji Gas has taken delivery of a state of the art Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker. It was delivered earlier this year and just completed all compliance procedures with the LTA, including its weighbridge certificate.

The tanker is fitted with all the latest safety features including a rollover switch so in the event the truck rolls over, all the valves lock containing the gas in the vessel. There is also a pneumatic system to immobilise the tanker in the event of an air leak. It will be the largest LPG tanker in Fiji with a total capacity of 37 Kilolitres or 18.4 tonnes of gas.

The drivers of this tanker will receive specialist training on its new features, in addition to the defensive driving courses and hazardous material training they routinely receive.

The Tanker has an automated Delivery Management System. It will pump the exact amount ordered by the customer and will print a delivery receipt immediately, direct from the trailer.

“I can’t wait to start using the new tanker”, says David Singh, a senior driver with the company. “My customers will be impressed when they see me drive up with this big trailer. It also has electronic systems in place to pump the exact quantity ordered and then produce a receipt once it has finished”.

Peter Lee, the CEO of Fiji Gas said “This tanker will be based at our Lautoka terminal. It will make deliveries to our biggest customers, typically the resorts in Denarau and on the Coral Coast. In addition we will use it to make deliveries to our largest offshore clients.”
