Fiji Secondary School Chef Competition

Fiji Gas was the proud stove and gas sponsors of the 04th Fiji School Chef Challenge. The company has been involved in this community event in Sigatoka for many years now. Organized by the Fiji Chef’s Association, President Shailesh Naidu believes that the competitions can grow to a large scale competition such as the Annual Salon Culinaire.

Over 100 students teachers and parents from 13 schools of Nadroga/ Navosa province and a few schools from Nadi took part in the day long competition. The Competition was based on 5 different classes – Egg, Chicken, Vegetarian, Fish and Cake Decoration. Each class had 3rd, 2nd and 1st place winners who walked away with medals, trophies, certificates, vouchers, gift packs and some cash prizes.

Founder Shailesh Naidu, the Executive Chef of Outrigger and President of the Fiji Chef’s Association said “As we’ll all agree, our kids are our future, its time as again to conduct this great course for our schools kids. This is our commitment to associate with the community and give something back to our people.”

Fiji Gas is committed to its involvement in the community and towards building skills and talents in our younger generation. Cooking is a big part of what Fiji Gas loves and the company plans to continue its annual support of the Secondary School Chef’s Competition.
