As part of our Health Safety & Environment responsibility, the staff of Fiji Gas carry out tank washing exercises at various locations every other month. The program is headed by its HSE Manager Niteshwar Sami, who says, “Our tank washing exercises ensures that we maintain our assets and a clean area on which our tanks sit at various customer locations. It also encourages team building among our staff.”
So far, tank washing exercises have only been carried out by the Lami and Walubay branches but plans are to expand this to its other branches.
The first tank washing exercise for the year was held on 21 March where a total of 51 bulk storage tanks were cleaned on the day alone in Suva’s CBD. Its second leg was held on 16 May covering Nausori town and the Crest Chicken farms in the larger Nausori area.
Operations Manager Max Olsson said, “The team building exercise was a great success and an opportunity to meet up with our customers, taking care of our environment by cleaning up the bulk tank surroundings and maintaining our assets and making them look presentable.”
Clean tanks = happy customers and happy customers means a happy Fiji Gas team!
So the next time you see Fiji Gas staff with buckets and brushes, stop them to say hello because they’ll be on their way to spruce up a nearby tank!
