Fiji Gas and its partner Moffat, the NZ supplier of the Waldorf Commercial Kitchen Range, are sponsoring the Salon Culinaire 2016 competition. This is part of the HOTEC 2016 exhibition which takes place at the Sheraton Resort and Spa from the 08th to the 11th November.
The Salon Culinaire is the premier cooking competition in Fiji. This year, chefs will be competing in one or more of the many classes. As well as the category competitions the judges will also be deciding on the Chef of the Year, the Junior Chef of the Year and the Pastry Chef of the Year.
The Salon Culinaire is not just recognized locally in Fiji. Previous winners have gone on to compete overseas. The competition was resurrected in 2004 when Fiji Gas and Moffat sponsored the event which they continue to do annually.
The Salon Culinaire is organized by the Fiji Chef’s Association. At this year’s event Moffat will provide 14 brand new stoves for the competition; the Waldorf 900mm Range Gas Burner Stove model. At the end of the Salon Culinaire the stoves will all be sold at a heavily discounted price by Fiji Gas.
Samson Lal, Fiji Gas National Sales and Marketing Manager said “Fiji Gas is very proud to support the Salon Culinaire and now so for twelve years. Good food is vital to the success of the tourism industry in Fiji. It is great to be associated with an event that raises standards every year. Here at the Salon Culinaire Moffat and Fiji Gas have given the competitors the best equipment and the gas to cook the winning dishes. We do the same for restaurants and homes across the country.”
Apart from the Chef’s Salon Culinaire, Fiji Gas will be exhibiting at the HOTEC show. The company was founded in 1956 and have become Fiji’s largest and longest serving LPG supplier. The company has a truly national footprint with 5 terminals and branches throughout the country.

The HOTEC show is where we try to do this by meeting with our customers and displaying options that we have available for them and for their business in terms of LPG”, said Cornelia Smith, CRM & Marketing Officer for Fiji Gas.
The company in partnership with its two biggest appliance suppliers, Moffat and Rinnai, will be displaying commercial cooking equipment and LPG hot water heaters, suited to the accommodation and cooking segments of the tourism industry.
